Amblyopia, or "lazy eye," is a childhood vision development disorder where the brain favors one eye, leading to weak vision in the other. It is caused by misaligned eyes (strabismus), unequal prescriptions, or blocked vision (cataracts). Symptoms include squinting, head tilting, or poor depth perception. While most treatable early, vision loss can become permanent if not treated by ages 7–9. Treatments include patching, glasses, or eye drops .
